Dr. Benn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Population Health Science and Policy and Center for Biostatistics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is also the Founding Director of the Center for Scientific Diversity at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, which aims to apply a rigorous research-driven approach to promoting and sustaining academic cultures of inclusive excellence. Dr. Benn is very much interested in applying her biostatistical expertise to enhancing the methodological rigor of health disparities research. She also has extensive experience developing and implementing successful educational initiatives aimed at increasing the statistical proficiency and research capacity of biomedical researchers. Dr. Benn is committed to increasing representation and advancement of underrepresented trainees and faculty in the biomedical research workforce. In addition to being the PI of CREiGS, Dr. Benn is the contact PI for the NIH FIRST Cohort Cluster Hiring Initiative at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is also co-founder of the NHLBI-funded BEST Diversity Program and was MPI of the NIGMS-funded (R25) Applied Statistics in Biological Systems Short Course.

Dr. Lewis Tomalin is an Assistant Professor with expertise in computational biology and molecular systems biology in the Center for Biostatistics and Department of Population Health Science and Policy at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His current research focuses on applying machine learning, genomic and proteomic techniques to understand molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of psoriasis and the mechanism of action of high efficacy next-generation anti-inflammatory biologics. Dr. Tomalin currently teaches the Introduction to R Programming graduate-level course at ISMMS.
